Two words… Cleveland, Georgia.
A town in North Georgia that you need to add to your travel destination bucket list. Just trust me on this one!
If you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I definitely recommend a stay at Cedar Creek Cabin Rentals. Whether you’re searching for a romantic getaway with your spouse or a place to bring the whole family, Cedar Creek Cabin Rentals will not disappoint!
All about our road trip...
Our home in South Florida was around a 10 ½ hour drive to Cleveland Georgia so between our SUV rental and my chauffeur *wink wink* I mean husband, we arrived safely at our destination! But not before a few wrong turns… Navigating the mountain roads is something this Florida girl is definitely not used to! Traveling somewhere new can be intimidating for anyone so give yourself some extra time in case you take some unplanned detours. Oh and be on the lookout for deer, especially on the roads at night!
Given that we made this vacation a road trip we were able to pack our SUV with pretty much everything we could think of! Whether it was cooking supplies, autumn-scented candles, or hot chocolate ingredients, our SUV had it all! We were determined to make the most out of this fall getaway.
the oasis cabin
The cabin we called home for the duration of our stay was the Oasis Cabin through Cedar Creek Cabin Rentals and trust me when I say, it was absolutely breathtaking. You can watch a full cabin tour here.
Some of our favorite amenities at the Oasis Cabin were the indoor jacuzzi tub, a stunning walk-in shower with two (2) shower heads, the pool table (your girl beat the hubby in the first round too btw), a full-size kitchen, the coziest reclining chairs, and of course the inside sauna! Our cabin also included an indoor fireplace and an outdoor fire pit, perfect for nightly s’mores. The weather was in the 20s and 30s so this was put to good use. In addition, there was an outdoor jacuzzi which we did not put to use because this Florida girl was too cold!
cozy by the fire...
My husband and I spent most of our nights cuddled by the fireplace watching Hallmark movies. We did venture out to the local Ingles to purchase a few food items which was about a 15-20 minute drive from our cabin!
Our main agenda for this vacation was quality time and cozy vibes and that was all possible due to the breathtaking views from our cabin. During the day we opened the windows to enjoy the crisp autumn air and in the evening our cabin was lit by the moon - it was absolutely perfect!
my first hike ever!
As a Florida girl, I am obviously not an avid hiker especially not in frigid weather. While my husband was living his best life, I was a little more skeptical about this adventure. However, I trusted my husband and let him take the lead and he most certainly did… picture, 5 miles off road, don’t look too far over the edge or you’ll fall, no trail markings or signs but the view is absolutely breathtaking that it is totally worth it type of hike! We both couldn’t believe that just a 10-hour road trip could bring you so much peace. You really do not realize how noisy our town in Florida can be until you’re out in nature!
downtown helen
Walking through the streets of Downtown Helen feels as though you have been transported to Germany. Charming and lovely are two words that perfectly describe this destination. It is a very family-friendly town with adorable local shops. We noticed it was fairly quiet which could have been due to the fact we went during the week but nonetheless, it was definitely a fun stop for us!
Make sure you check out The Hansel & Gretel Candy Kitchen & Chocolate Factory! We put together a box of truffles and the flavor options were to die for.
No vacation is complete without a good old souvenir shop! We gifted my mom this really cool candle that looked like a bowl of peach cobbler, which captures the essence of Georgia perfectly, and bonus, it smelled amazing too!
what to do during your stay
On our drive to Downtown Helen, we passed this adorable antique mall and I just had to stop in. This antique mall had three floors filled with vintage home decor, original film cameras, signed vintage posters, and more. I would highly recommend paying a visit here while on your way to Downtown Helen.
Right next door to the antique mall was the Habersham Winery so of course I had to pop in there too. I ordered a glass of wine that came in a chocolate cup as well as their Sangria Slushie. Regardless of how cold I was, I could not pass up a sangria! It was delicious!
